Edmonton Optometrist
Dr. Ross McKenzie
Dr. Ross McKenzie initially obtained his B.Sc degree from the University of Saskatchewan, majoring in Human Anatomy and minoring in mathematics. He then went on to graduate from Pacific University College of Optometry with distinction and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honour Society for academic excellence.
He has an extensive clinical background focused on medical eye care in cataracts, laser eye surgery, diabetes and emergency eye care. In addition, he's had the privilege of working alongside several local cataract and laser eye surgeons. Through this, he's gained extensive knowledge of these common eye procedures, including their criteria, surgical concerns and complications, and post-operative care, which he has brought to his private practice. This expertise has also led to numerous cross-disciplinary speaking engagements on topics such as refining eyeglass prescriptions, contact lens infections, corneal abrasions, retinal detachments and floaters.
In addition to medical eye care, Dr. Ross McKenzie also enjoys seeing kids. Being able to help children see and succeed at school while helping to slow down the progression of nearsighted using the latest myopia management techniques has been a recent passion and an area where he continues to study and gain knowledge.
In his free time, Dr. Ross McKenzie can be found at one of the local parks with his own little kids, swimming, skiing, playing hockey or participating in the occasional running race or triathlon. As a local resident of Crestwood, you’re sure to see him out and about. Don’t hesitate to say hi.
