Matt is a drone-flying, guitar-playing, golfer, runner, and hot sauce connoisseur. Matt has nearly 20 best friends and enthusiastically identifies as being from Edmonton. If you run into Matt and his other best friend, Millie the dog, on the trails at Laurier Dog Park, stop and say hello!

In 2012 Matt graduated from the University of Alberta with a double major in Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences. He then went on to graduate from Pacific University: College of Optometry with distinction. At Pacific University Matt served on the Curriculum Committee, the Admissions Committee, and as a student ambassador.

Myopia (nearsightedness) control is an emerging topic in optometry that Dr. Matt integrates into his practice. By using prescription eye drops or specialty contact lenses, it is possible to slow the rate a child’s glasses prescription changes. This can result in the need to replace a child’s glasses less frequently while maintaining a healthy eye and clear comfortable vision.

Dr. Matt is licensed to diagnose and manage conditions of the eye with both oral and topical therapies. Dr. Matt has a special interest in the management of diabetic eye disease as diabetes is one of the major causes of preventable vision loss in Canada. Just as eyes are only a part of the body, he believes that collaboration with other members of the healthcare team is the best way to care for the total well-being of his patients.
